an inside scoop
Hey, Friend, Hey!
My very first blog post and what better way to start it off with more insight about the girl behind the name “Royaltee.” Well first things first, why the name Royaltee and why is it spelled that way!? My family and close friends call me ‘Tee.’ I rarely went by the name Tinesha. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been mommy and daddy’s princess. I guess you can say I was spoiled- hey I own it! Being their princess taught me my worth as a lady and to have dreams and desires beyond what I could comprehend. They set a standard for my life that required me to level up my thinking, my work ethic, and how to effectively approach life. As children, I remember my dad making my brother and me sit together in the living room or at the dining table and he facilitated bible study as a family. It was in those bible study sessions where he planted seeds that we were different, extraordinary, set apart, unique, kingdom kids. As a child you don’t quite understand the ways of your folks sometimes and you think their ways can be ‘annoying’ but I no longer think like a child. As I look back over my 30 something life and the path that has been prepared for me, I thank my parents for modeling a mindset that called for me to walk fearlessly and in authority, to lead and influence. This is definitely a journey and not something I’ve quite mastered but my heart is set on receiving my crown!
Now, that you understand where the name came from, I would like to share 10 more fun facts about me so that we are properly introduced:
- I was born in Texas but grew up as an ‘army brat.’ We moved, on average, every two years. The most exciting place I lived was in Schweinfurt Germany. I moved there my 7th grade year and left during my 10thgrade year. Such a great cultural experience!
- I attended my first public high school in Columbia, SC as a 10th grader. Talk about a culture shock coming from a DODDS school to public education in a very southern state where the Confederate flag was proudly flown. Eek!
- I have a strong dependence on cooling fans when it’s time to go to sleep. It’s like a child who can’t go to sleep without their favorite blankie or teddy bear. Well, mine is a fan. I’ve slept with a fan on since I was knee high to a duck. If I don’t have one, I can’t sleep and become very restless. I don’t care if it’s a ceiling fan or a pedestal fan or the loud obnoxious wall unit in the hotel room, it’s simply a must have. Oh, and it’s a year round kind of thing. Not just during the summer months. Guess it’s soothing.
- I’m an extrovert and introvert all at the same time. I enjoy people and feel I never meet a stranger and even thrive in some crowds but I tend to get exhausted quickly and overwhelmed with a lot of people. I look forward to recharging at home and doing absolutely nothing. Just my peace and quiet.
- I come from a sports loving family. Grew up in sports from gymnastics to cheerleading to basketball to softball to track. Most memorable experiences in my sports career was playing basketball in London and running track throughout Germany. The competition was stiff! I hate to admit that when it came to my senior year in high school, I traded my basketball sneakers for pom poms (Sorry pops!).
- I love dancing! My first official dance experience was with my pops in Mexico at such a tender age. The 69 Boys came on and we were in our Dallas Cowboys jersey’s tootsie rolling! Did I forget to mention I’m a daddy’s girl!
- I enjoy all things wine and coffee related. I went from a Moscato drinking girl in college to what I deem, a wine connoisseur. My goal is to visit a winery each time I travel somewhere new. I always leave with a local bottle of wine. Additionally, when I travel, I collect coffee mugs. I like my coffee black and my wine full bodied, just like my man!
- When I was younger, I faithfully went to sleep watching I Love Lucy!
- I knew I wanted to be a social worker in middle school after reading the book, “A Child Called It” by Dave Pelzer. I’m currently rocking as a School Social Work Coordinator in an alternative education!
- My favorite food is seafood. It’s the first thing I choose on any menu.
Now that you know more about me, I’d love to learn about you!
